Obituary

Oliver Leslie "Ollie" Nye, 93, died Nov. 25, 2015, at Mennonite Friendship Comm-unities, South Hutchinson. He was born May 10, 1922, in Hutchinson, to George Mortimore and Cordelia Winifred (Kershner) Nye.

Oliver served in the United States Army during WWII, was vice president for Salt City Federal and retired from Reno County Abstract. On March 6, 1942, Oliver married Rosemary Hemphill in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Mary Ann Wenner, Myra Kitson and husband Jim, all of Hutchinson; grandson, Zac Kitson and wife Miriam of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Emma Truesdell, Cora Evans; brother, George M. Nye Jr.; and son-in-law, David Wenner.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Bishop Quintin Moore presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Friendship Communities or Reno County Veterans' Memorial, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
