Ollie Fae Nelson, 88, died Nov. 29, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born April 27, 1926, in Langdon, to Wilford Samuel and Anna Pearl (Davis) Pratt.
She was the valedictorian of her 1944 Langdon High School class. Ollie was a member of First Congregational Church and a continuous supporter of the Salvation Army, Indian Schools, March of Dimes, Boys Home and Veterans charities. She had adopted a Korean boy, Choi Lin Hoi, as a pen pal and financially supported him until his eighteenth birthday. In 1978, she retired after 27 years as the secretary for the postmaster. She also had worked a civil service job as a secretary at the Navy Base.
On Aug. 19, 1945, Ollie married Dwight Howard Nelson in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 1, 2007. Survivors include: son, Johnnie Nelson of Hutchinson; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, in Sego Cemetery, rural Arlington, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
