Omer Dean Yoder, 82, of Hutchinson, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Brookdale of Hutchinson. He was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Yoder, to Daniel and Elizabeth Yoder.

Omer graduated from Haven High School in 1954 and received his bachelor's degree in Education. He taught at elementary schools, as well as Social Studies at various high schools throughout the United States. Omer was also a high school wrestling coach. He served in the United States Army.

In 2003, he married Dorothy (Haines) Hill in Sarasota, Florida. She survives in Wichita.

Omer is also survived by: stepdaughters, Lori Moats (Jeremy), Shelli Hill, all of Wichita; step-grandchildren, Gage Hill, Ramon Moats, Ryan Moats, Liya Moats; sisters, Nadine Brewster, Freda Martin, Esther Bontrager; and brothers, Andrew and Merle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501, is in charge of arrangements.
