Obituary

Opal E. Rayl, 90, died Sept. 2, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Hutchinson, to Earl Thomas and Letha Holt.

She graduated from Salt City Business College. Opal was a member of First United Methodist Church, UMW, EHU and was a leader in youth 4-H for many years. She sponsored many high school activities and was an avid bridge player. Opal enjoyed playing bingo at the Delos V. Smith Senior Center.

She married Ralph T. Rayl on May 11, 1941, in Hutchinson. He died July 31, 1993. Survivors include: two sons, Scott Rayl (Cathy) and Regan Rayl, all of Hutchinson; two daughters, Deanna Jackson (Rudy) of Indianapolis, Ind., and Janis Koch (Jay) of Olathe, Kan.; three grandchildren, Aaron, JP and Brandi Rayl; great-grandchild, Maddison Rayl; step-great-grandchild, Noah Rayl. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Imel and Marjorie Oliver.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Conard officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
