Oral Hodges' Obituary
SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Oral F. Hodges, 90, passed away Sept. 4, 2008, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. She was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Anthony, the daughter of Alfred and Julia Pigg Hughbanks.
Oral grew up in the Sterling area and lived her adult life in Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and charter member of TOPS for over 30 years. She belonged to the Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.
On April 20, 1935, she married Owen Hodges. He died in March of 1984.
Oral had four children, Sharon and husband Allan Moore, Abbyville, Gary and wife Cherry Hodges, Lyons; daughter in-law, Lila Hodges, Sterling; daughter Debbie and husband Denis Gehring, South Hutchinson; a son, Don passed away March 6, 2005. Oral enjoyed being a grandmother to 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She joins her siblings, Ruth Butler, Austin Hughbanks, Dora Messick Blue and Audrey Morrison in death.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson. Visitation today 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorials may be sent to Eastwood Church of Christ or Maude Carpenter Children's Home, or Hospice Care of Kansas.
