Oscar O. Tope, 87, died July 11, 2007, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
He was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Turon, the son of Omer and Mary Davis Tope. He was a 1938, graduate of Cunningham High School. A resident of Arlington since 1946, he was a farmer and had worked for Cessna Fluid Power for 25 years, retiring in 1984.
He belonged to Arlington United Methodist Church and Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. & A.M.
On Sept. 7, 1947, he married Gladys V. Brooks in Kingman. She died Jan. 28, 1968. In 1969, he married Edna Windholz Leiker. She survives and resides in Pretty Prairie.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Pat Thayer and husband, Ed, Arlington, Jo Breedings and husband, Ernie, Dodge City, and Donna Sauer and husband, Fred, Wichita; a brother, LaVerne, Roseburg, Ore.; three sisters, Wilma Clemments, Lucinda Burris and Frances Shelley, all of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie; a grandson, Michael Thayer and a sister, Iona Oller.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Arlington United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Wright presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Sego Cemetery, with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 AF & AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army, in care of the mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
