Obituary

Page Diane Minkler Whiting, was born to Alben Page and Bess (Houser) Minkler in Wenatchee, WA on March 27, 1940. She died in Hutchinson, KS, on October 28, 2026. In between those dates, Page lived an amazing, full life.

Page spent her early childhood in Washington, Illinois and California. She was a child when the world was at war, but she still managed to find joy. In her Baby Book it was noted that she received a rubber ball for her sixth birthday and was so excited because “it really bounced”! Page graduated high school in Hawthorne, Nevada and entered the work world. She worked as a legal secretary in Reno, NV and became Executive Assistant to Nevada Governor Robert List. She then took a job in Carson City at the Eagle Valley Children's Home where she met the love of her life, Harry Whiting.

Page’s favorite flowers were red and white carnations. Harry liked to surprise her with bouquets. Carnations symbolize fascination, distinction, and deep love. All these attributes are reminiscent of Page as well. Page had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. She could be counted on to add a witty remark after one of Harry’s stories.Page was kind to a fault and made everyone around her feel welcome. She gave sincere compliments and warm praise to those she cared about.

Page enjoyed collecting beautiful antique furniture, fine china and glassware. She was known for hosting elegant dinner parties. Page is remembered as a “romantic at heart” who loved going on special trips and staying in bed & breakfasts with her wonderful husband Harry. She was an elegant woman who loved to dress up and was never without the perfect accessory.

Page and Harry lived in Forest Hill, CA and Yreka, CA. Harry's career took them to Aberdeen, WA where they enjoyed the Pacific Northwest. Upon Harry's retirement, they moved to Ellinwood, KS.

Page was loved and will be missed by her remaining family. Page is survived by her: stepsons, Dan (Sunshine) and Tim (Betsy); her grandchildren, Luke, Sam, Amelia, Wyatt, Caroline, and Eleanor; sister, Rae Kinney Martin; niece, Kristi; nephew, Brian; and grand-niece and nephews, Katelyn, Kyle and Samuel.

Page was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, and her beloved son Greg Murphy. Page was a true animal lover. She loved her dogs and cats. Page celebrated their personalities. No matter what pet she was talking about, she would always remark that they “were just the best ever”. In honor of Page’s love for all creatures great and small, please make any memorial donations to your local animal shelter.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
