Patricia A. Foss

Patricia “Patty” A. Foss (née Brill), 81, passed away on October 14, 2026. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a prominent community leader.

Born on October 5, 1945, Patty was the daughter of Claude and Pauline (Ary) Brill. She grew up on her family’s farm outside of Lewis, Kansas, surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She shared a deep, lifelong bond with her beloved brother, David.

Patty graduated from Lewis High School in 1963 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas in 1967.

On December 23, 1967, she married Dr. Daniel Foss; Dan was the love of her life. In the early years of their marriage, Patty worked as a school nurse while her husband completed medical school and residency. She later paused her professional career to devote herself fully to raising her young family, eventually settling in Hutchinson when Dan began his practice at the Hutchinson Clinic.

In October 1993, Patty returned to professional life at Wesley Towers, where she served as Development Director and later as Vice President of Independent Living until July 2004.

Patty was a highly active civic leader in Reno County. A graduate of Leadership Hutchinson and the Leadership Kansas Class of 2001, she served as a Board Member for First National Bank and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson. Her extensive volunteer leadership included serving as Chairman of the Reno County United Way and as a board member for the Hutchinson Community Foundation, the American Red Cross, Hospice of Reno County, the Reno County Medical Alliance, and the Central Kansas Planned Giving Roundtable. She was also a member of the National Honor Society of Nursing and founded the "Picture Lady" art program in local elementary schools.

Outside of her community work, Patty enjoyed traveling, spending time in Florida at the beach, and gathering with lifelong friends. Her family was her ultimate priority and greatest joy. She was an exceptionally proud and deeply involved grandmother, actively sharing in every part of her precious granddaughters’ lives.

Patty is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years, Dr. Daniel Foss; her daughter, Tara Foss Connors of Tampa, FL; her granddaughters, Dorian and Tenley Connors of Tampa, FL; and her sister-in-law, Donna Brill of Wichita, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Pauline Brill; her brother, David Brill; and her children, Amanda Foss and Tyler Foss.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Christine Kass officiating. A private burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
