Patrick "Pat" Hampel, 71, died April 25, 2012, at Dillon Living Center.
He was born March 17, 1941, in Garden Plain to Eugene and Marie (Schick) Hampel.
He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1959. Pat retired in 2008 from J & J Drainage, where he was a truck driver. He enjoyed cooking and gardening.
On May 12, 1967, he married Delores A. Smith in Wichita. She died March 23, 1999.
Survivors include: a daughter, Melissa McFarland and husband Bob of Hutchinson; sister, Theresa Downing and husband Daryl of Hutchinson; two grandsons, Ryan and Zachary McFarland of Hutchinson; two stepsons, Roy and Mike Smith; two step grandchildren, Jeremy Smith of Hutchinson and Alisha Smith of Joplin, Mo.; nephew, Darrin (Abbi) Downing and great-nephew, Daxton "Captain" Downing, both of Wichita.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Elliott Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, with Father Nicholas Voelker presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Dillon Living Center, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
