Obituary

Paul Wesley Ensz, 71, died Feb. 16, 2016, at Hospice House. He was born July 11, 1944, at Grace Hospital, Hutchinson, to Alvin and Hulda (Willems) Ensz.

Paul grew up in the Inman area and attended schools near and in Inman, graduating from Inman High School. He also attended McPherson College, where he played football. During college, Paul also worked as a carpet installer, both full-time and part-time. After college, he served in the army at Fort Leavenworth, and later at Colorado Springs, Colo. He lived in Colorado for several years before returning to Inman, where he lived on his great-grandmother's farmstead and enjoyed farming part-time with his family, while also working in the flooring industry as a salesman and installer.

Upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ, Paul was baptized on Aug. 24, 1958, at Dillon Lake, near Hutchinson, and became a member of the Zoar K.M.B. church at Inman. On March 26, 1961, Paul transferred membership to Inman Mennonite Church with his parents and brother, Wayne.

Paul was very good at building furniture and remodeling homes. He completely remodeled his great-grandmother's house near Inman. His great-grandmother built the house in 1893, after her husband died, and while she was raising her family on her own.

Paul liked to tease and joke with family and friends. At family get-togethers, he would leave a word puzzle, riddle or other brain teaser for the family to try to solve.

He always had an interesting story to tell. Paul enjoyed cars. He loved working on them, but his true enjoyment came from racing, especially his Mustang.

He and his car club friends routinely raced on weekends. Paul was also an avid outdoorsman, with archery as his passion. Living in Colorado expanded his ability to pursue his passion, and he took many trophies in his life with a bow, including multiple bears.

Survivors include: daughters, Christi Rife and husband David of Colwich, Sheri Armbruster and husband Mike of Hutchinson; grandsons, Zachary Rife of Colwich, Gavin Ellis of Hutchinson; brother, Wayne Ensz and wife Kathy of McPherson; sister, Joyce Bengston and husband Willard of Windom; former wife, Sandy Hill of Hutchinson; and companion, Nancy Myrtle of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
