Paul Gene Heter, 78, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at his home. He was born September 3, 1937, in Hutchinson, the son of Leonard and Viola "Peggy" (Allen) Heter.
He worked for FarMarCo and Farmland Industries for 24 years, retiring in 2000. The motorcycle was his best-loved means of transportation. Another favorite pastime was snake hunting, and morning coffee at McDonald's, either on 4th or 11th Avenue.
On July 2, 1959, he married Barbara Ann Chesnutt in Hutchinson. She died March 29, 2000. He is survived by: three sons, Jeffrey and wife Regina, Jace, and Jon; a brother, Joseph, all of Hutchinson; and a granddaughter, Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Max.
Cremation is planned. There will be no service. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Cancer Council of Reno County or the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
