Obituary

Pauline E. Clayton, 98, died Oct. 19, 2015, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born March 2, 1917, in Woodson County, Kan., to Otis A. and Margie G. (Derby) Fowler.

Pauline graduated from Argonia High School in 1934 and attended three years at Oklahoma A&M from 1936 to 1939. She was a farmwife, avid gardener, and member of Lincoln Baptist Temple.

On Sept. 1, 1938, she married Garnett G. Clayton. He died Nov. 30, 1983. Pauline is survived by: children, Janet Lindwall and husband Allan of Hutchinson, Valera Jo Dodd and husband Marvin of Bella Vista, Ark., John Clayton and wife Sandy of Wellington, Mary Kay Peterson and husband Reed of Boise, Idaho, and Paul Clayton and wife Kathy of Rye, Colo.; grandchildren, Clayton and Aaron Lindwall, Andrew and Stacey Hardesty, Rachel Clayton, Rebekah Hyer, Meredith Clayton, Nathan Clayton, Sarah Hite, Seth Clayton and Luke Clayton; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patsy J. Fowler.

Private family graveside will take place in Argonia Cemetery, Argonia. Celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be made to Wellington Baptist Temple or the Salvation Army, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

A celebration of life service for Pauline Clayton, who died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Wellington Baptist Temple, 1022 N. Plum St., Wellington. All friends and acquaintances are invited to share with the family.
