COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Pearl Alice Toms, 81, died March 13, 2006, at Pikes Peak Care Center, Colorado Springs.
She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Medora, the daughter of Clarence and Bessie Trotter Barnes. An Arlington resident since 1991, formerly of Hutchinson and Lake George, Colo., she had worked alongside her husband in several family-owned businesses in Hutchinson. She also had been a mail carrier in Lake George.
She belonged to Arlington United Methodist Church and was a member of Order of Eastern Star and Ladies of the Shrine and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, D.A.V. and American Legion auxiliaries.
On April 19, 1942, she married Chester Toms. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Charlotte Lovejoy, Colorado Springs, and Beverly Vidmar, Woodland Park, Colo.; two brothers, Dale Barnes, Chanhassen, Minn., and Stanley Barnes, Goodland; two sisters, Darlene Jarmer, Hutchinson, and Doloris Green, Oakland, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Barnes.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Arlington United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Elaine K. Lord presiding. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the mortuary.
