ALSTEAD - Peggy Jeanne Sheffer, 81, died May 25, 2006, at Newton Medical Center.
She was born July 2, 1924, in Stockton, the daughter of Clell James and Edith Marie Silvers Stice. She graduated in 1942, from Webster High School and attended Fort Hays State College. She was the Rooks County Treasurer, retiring after 21 years in 1985.
She belonged to First Christian Church, Burrton.
On April 12, 1946, she married Winton Lott Sheffer in Stockton. He died March 15, 2002.
Survivors include: a son, Derek and wife, Paula, Hutchinson; a daughter, Karla Schoeller and husband, Mike, Englewood, Colo.; a son-in-law, Jim Gregg, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cella Gregg; a sister, Jane Zerger; and a granddaughter, Heather Dawn Gregg.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, Burrton, with the Rev. Sherman Sack presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
