Peggy Jean Wise, 78, of South Hutchinson, formerly of Council Grove, died February 15, 2019, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born September 6, 1940, in Danville, Illinois, to Ralph and Ruth (Shake) Payne.

Peggy worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Wilsey Christian Church, Wilsey, Kansas.

On August 5, 1977, she married Raymond Roy Wise in Kingman, Indiana. He died May 3, 2018.

Peggy is survived by: daughter, Margo Frey and husband Pastor John of Hutchinson; brothers, Donn Payne and wife Doris of Veedersburg, Indiana, Dann Payne and wife DonElla of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Kari Magana and husband Nick of Gardner, Matthew Fox and wife Brittany of Herrington, Mark Mock and wife Virginia of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Emma Magana, Elijah Magana, Ethaniel Magana, Israel Mock, Ezekiel Mock, one great-grandson on the way.

She was preceded in death by: father, Ralph Payne; mother, Ruth (Shake) DelValley; daughter, Melony Ramey Watkins; sister, Patsy Wise; and brother-in-law, Ernie Wise.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Wilsey Christian Church, 310 Lyndon Street, Wilsey, Kansas, with Pastor Clarence Sumner and son-in-law, Pastor John Frey officiating. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Wilsey Christian Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
