Peter "Pete" Lopez Marquez, 88, died October 13, 2022, surrounded by family at, Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born January 31, 1934, in Burrton, to Juan and Louisa (Gomez) Marquez.
Pete attended Hutchinson High School and in 1954, he joined the United States Army and served in Germany. He was retired from his career as a car man for the Santa Fe Railroad. Pete was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he loved to serve. He belonged to the Holy Name Society and was a 4 th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #162. Pete loved to fish, golf, garden, listen to oldies music, and play cards with his buddies. He was a great cook and prepared many great meals for family weddings. More than anything, Pete loved his family.
On February 4, 1961, Pete married Ramona Teresa Amaro, in Hutchinson. They shared over 61 years of marriage.
He is survived by: wife, Ramona Marquez, Hutchinson; numerous nieces, nephews, and God-children.
Pete was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Bobby Marquez, Adolph Chavez, Tony Marquez; and sisters, Kathryn Garcia, and Stella Marquez.
Parish Rosary will be 9:30 am Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, at the Church. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm on Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
The family would also like to give a special mention and thank you to the Hospice House in Hutchinson and all of their staff for their wonderful care and kindness.
