Peter M. Navarro, 82 passed away Feb. 8, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Groveland, Kan., to Petronilo and Rejina (Moreno) Navarro.

Peter graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950. He married Remedios Olmos in February 1955 in McPherson.

From 1952 to 1956, Peter served in the United States Air Force; his last active station was in Wadena, Minn., with the 739th AC and W Squadron. His highest rank was S/SGT +1. He worked for Cessna for 30 years as a Machinist and for 52 years he was a Warehouse Manager for International Homes. Peter was a member of Church of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in his garden, collecting coins, watching sports on television and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gina Marie Navarro; brothers, Abraham, Michael, John and Jim Navarro; sisters, Bessie Torrez and Loretta Berryman.

Survivors include: wife, Remedios "Mello" Navarro of Hutchinson; sons, John Charles Navarro of Hutchinson, Steve Navarro and his wife Connie of Hutchinson, Peter Edward Navarro of Austin, Texas, Martin Navarro and his wife Tonia of Hutchinson, David Navarro and his wife Margaret of Wichita; sisters, Carmen Mello of Sherwood, Ore., Angelita Rivera and Frances Torrez of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Matthew Navarro of Hutchinson, Anthony Navarro of Lawrence, Devin and Daniel Porting, Joshua and Haley Navarro, all of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Parish Rosary 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
