Philip C. Bloom, 96, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born January 16, 1917, in Hutchinson, the son of Harry Clayton and Anna Nay Bloom.
He was a 1934 graduate of Hutchinson High School, attended Hutchinson Community College and Salt City Business College, a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a life member and past commander of the American Legion Lyle Rishel Post #68, a Past Master and Chef de Gere Passe Voiture of the Bassett Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A. M. Philip was retired from construction work.
On August 5, 1939, he married Vivian S. Prichard. She died January 13, 1961. On December 23, 1962, he married Martha M. Fenwick. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Philip V. (Edith) of Glendale, AZ; a daughter, Vicki A. Bloom of Phoenix; two stepsons, Dr. Bradley W. Fenwick (Debbie) of Manhattan, KS, and John C. Fenwick (Sheena) of San Francisco, CA; two grandchildren, Audrea Wilshire (Steve) of Phoenix, and Corbett Bloom (Lisa) of Scottsdale, AZ; step-grandchildren, Benjamin Fenwick (Jillian) of Arlington, VA, and Emily Fenwick of Golden, CO; and great-grandchildren, Jake and Kayla Wilshire, and Shannon, Donavan and Payton Bloom. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl N. Bloom.
No services are planned. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorial gifts may be made to Harden Hospice, or Wesley Towers Library Fund, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
