Harlan Fairbanks, 90, died July 15, 2015, at his home in South Hutchinson. He was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Hutchinson, to Ivan and Violet (Lawerence) Fairbanks.
He owned his own construction business, building houses all over Hutchinson for 65 years. Philip was a member of the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.
On Sept. 1, 1993, he married Rita Mae Cardwell in Missouri. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Philip Fairbanks of South Hutchinson; daughters, Deborah Franz (Bill) of Maize, Diana Bruce (William) of South Hutchinson, Kathy Kimpler (David) of Wichita; a sister, Marilyn McCann of Derby; five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Fairbanks; brothers, Richard, Harold, Curtis, Warren Merle Fairbanks; and a sister, Norma Lee Keist.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military graveside honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
