Philip Kenneth Hitchcock, 56, died Sept. 25, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 28, 1959, in Denver, Colo., to Floyd and Sally (Davis) Hitchcock.
Philip graduated from Northglenn High School in Northglenn, Colorado in 1978, and received his bachelor degrees in math and computer science from Metro State College in Denver, Colorado. Philip then became a certified medical dosimetrist (CMD). He worked at Chalmers Cancer Treatment Center, an entity of Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, for the last two years as a dosimetrist. Philip had a passion for learning and he saw potential in everything, from a leaf to every individual he had contact with through the years. Philip also was a photographer, collector, jewelry maker, goldsmith and silversmith, along with many other talents. He was the most creative and gifted individual you would ever meet. He never knew a stranger and Philip always saw the good in people.
Survivors include: sons, Brighten and Carter Hitchcock of South Dakota; mother, Sally Hitchcock; sister, Julie Hitchcock; brother, Stewart Hitchcock, all of Denver, Colorado; and numerous co-workers who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brighten and Carter Hitchcock Education Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
