Obituary

HAVEN – Phyllis J. Bontrager, 79, died July 22, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Hutchinson, to William Carl and Leatha (Lisman) Hoth.

Phyllis graduated from Hutchinson High School. She was a homemaker and drove a school bus for the Haven school district. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting baby hats for the hospital. Phyllis was a member of Journey Mennonite Church. She was active in the church and would plan banquets, taught Sunday school, and played softball.

On Feb. 8, 1951, she married Eldon R. Bontrager in Jefferson City, Mo. Phyllis is survived by husband, Eldon Bontrager of the home; daughters, Kimberly Wilhelm and husband Thomas of Milwaukee, Wis., Jeanne Peirce and husband Cameron of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Samantha Rankin and husband Trevor, Amanda Meek, Connor Peirce, Hayden Peirce; and great-grandchildren, Elliot Rankin, and Carolyn Rankin. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at Journey@South Hutchinson, 808 S. Poplar, South Hutchinson, with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary with family to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Journey@Yoder.
