Phyllis J. England, 89, died February 16, 2013, at Council Grove Health Care Center. She was born in Zenith, Kansas, to Roy and Pearl (Heggy) Sturgeon.
Phyllis graduated from Stafford High School in 1942. On January 29, 1943, she married Glenn England in Hutchinson.

While living in Hutchinson, she was a member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church and worked for Singleton-Joyce Optical and the Reno County Courthouse Treasurer's Office. In 2006, Phyllis and Glenn moved to Council Grove.

Survivors include: her husband, Glenn; daughter, Shirley Blice; son, Ken England and wife Debra, all of Council Grove; brother, Ronnie Sturgeon of Salina; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gene and Bill Sturgeon, sister, Marjorie Mislivic, and grandson, Jaydee Blice.

At her request, cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Joe Rychcik officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the week at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, in care of the mortuary.
