Phyllis Irene Harris Poulain, 86, died Sept. 19, 2016, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born Sept. 2, 1930, in Minneola, to Earl and Edith (Foster) Harris.
Phyllis graduated from Minneola High School, Northwest Oklahoma State with a bachelor's degree in education, and from the University of Nebraska with a master's degree in education. She was a member of the Hutchinson Sweet Adelines Chorus and loved to sing and play the piano. Phyllis retired as a teacher from the Beatrice, Nebraska, public schools.
On March 22, 1952, she married Mark Ronald Poulain in Stinnet, Texas. He died Jan. 10, 2013. Survivors include: sons, Rory Poulain and wife Trish of Hutchinson, Gary Poulain and wife Mary of Edmond, Okla., Bruce Poulain of Eagle, Neb., Dana Poulain and wife Mary of DeSoto; sisters, Margaret Davis of Meade, Doris Tabor of Garden City; brothers, Ronald Harris and Norman Harris, both of Minneola; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Minneola United Methodist Church, 231 South Main, Minneola, with the Reverend James Poulain officiating. Burial will follow in Appleton Township Cemetery, Minneola. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
