Phyllis Lorrine Long, 90, died May 16, 2014, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born March 13, 1924, in Perth, KS, to William and Della Iddings Erhard.
As a small child her family moved to Wellington, KS, where she grew up. She married Arthur F. Long on October 25, 1940, in Newkirk, Okla., and in 1947, they became Hutchinson residents. He died February 24, 2001. Phyllis was co-owner of Longs Incorporated in Hutchinson and worked there for 50 years. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years.
Survivors include: sons, Gaylord A. Long and wife Paula, McPherson, William D. Long and wife Linda, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Brian Long and wife Heather, Ottawa, Melissa Hess and husband Chris, Olathe, Eric Long and wife Brianna, Jeff Long and wife Kim, all of Lawrence, Amanda Jackson and husband Kory, Hutchinson, Chris Long and wife Sirena, Los Angeles, Calif., Cara Long, Wichita, Tim Long, Aliso Viejo, Calif., Philip Cratty and wife Ellen, Hoofddorp, Netherlands, Justin Cratty, London, England, and Nicola Cratty, Houston, Texas; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Nancy L. Long, three brothers, and seven sisters.
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Lowell Knauss presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. A private family burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
