Obituary

Phyllis June Viegra, 91, formerly of Hutchinson, died December 1, 2019, at Heritage Health, El Paso, IL.  She was born October 21, 1928, in Hutchinson, to Roy Franklin and Elener (Mesker) Smiley.

Phyllis graduated from Hutchinson High School.  She retired as a custodian at Central Bank & Trust.  Phyllis was a member of the Salt City Miniatures and Red Hat Society, both in Hutchinson.  She enjoyed reading, word searches, crafts, and shopping.  Phyllis loved her church and was a member of Union Valley Bible Church, Hutchinson.

Phyllis is survived by:  son, Robert of Wichita; brother, James Smiley of Idaho Fall, ID; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Foxy Lady.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Viegra; daughter, Sue Page; grandson, Brandon Mahoney; and brother, David Smiley.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to Union Valley Bible Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
