Ralph "Wayne" Albright, 97, died Aug. 16, 2014, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie. He was born Nov. 10, 1916, in Pretty Prairie, to Peter G. and Ida Edna (Kaufman) Albright.
Wayne graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1934. He farmed until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He was in the United States for three years and obtained Master Sergeant, then went to India and Burma for 15 months. Wayne was discharged on Jan. 6, 1946, and went back to farming. On Feb. 11, 1949, he married Martha Louise Payne in Kingman. She died Oct. 16, 2006. Wayne is survived by: his sons, Robert "Bob" Albright and wife Jamie of Bucyrus, Larry Albright of Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Albright Morgan and husband Grant of Garden City; grandson, Jacob Albright of Lawrence; great-granddaughter, Kennedy of Garden City; nephews, Dr. Jerry Albright and wife Connie of Hutchinson, Dr. Bruce Albright and wife Susie of North Carolina; niece, Jolene Anderson and husband Robin of Sedgwick. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eldon "Pete" Albright.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, with Reverend Susan Green officiating. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Lone Star Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
