Ralph B. Green, 88, died Feb. 3, 2009, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers.
He was born April 8, 1920, in Lake Charles, La., the son of George Charles and Maggie Mae Ball Green.
He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1938, Spartan School of Aviation, Tulsa, Okla., in 1947. He was a retired aircraft technician for Wells Aircraft.
He belonged to the First Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and the spent several years in the Kansas Air National Guard.
On Jan. 18, 1946, he married Lola A. Weide, in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Gaylon and his wife, Ruby, and Jerry and his wife, Janice, all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Lynette Osborne and husband, Rodney, Tahlequah, Okla.; two sisters, Elsie Burnett, Monte Rose, Colo., and Glenna Frye and husband, Calvin, Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Milton Green, a sister, Geraldine Green and a grandson, Christopher Green.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Brian D. Smith and Bones Nay presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County, or Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
