Obituary

HAVEN - Ray Darrell Brown, 76, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Haven on April 25, 2008. He was born July 8, 1931, in McPherson, the son of Ray E. and Flora Marshall Brown. He graduated from Lyons High School, Lyons, KS, and then graduated from Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson. A resident of Haven for two years, formerly of Arma, KS, he was a retired appliance salesman for Sears.

He belonged to Haven Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 409, Arma, where he was a Master of the Lodge, Masonic Lodge No. 43, Nickerson, where he was Master of the Lodge on their Centennial year, Masonic Lodge No. 124, Hutchinson. He was a 32nd degree mason, a Shriner and member of the Scottish Rite in Wichita and Fort Scott. He was a Hospital Dad through the Mirza Temple in Pittsburg, KS, and through the years he belonged to several units. He served in the U.S. Army 38th Ordinance.

On July 4, 1952, he married Rosalie Danks in Lyons, KS. On May 14, 1990, he married Darlene B. Miller in Newkirk, Okla. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Michael Brown, Honolulu; a daughter, Linda Brown, Hutchinson; a stepson, Eric Miller, Oakland, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Marlene Chamber (Bryan), Pratt, and Diana Nulf (Larry), Hutchinson; brother, Lanny Brown, Topeka; a grandson, Leko Simmons; five step-grandchildren, including, Jason and Joshua Chambers; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray E. and Flora Marshall Brown, three brothers, Dwight "Mike" Brown, Dean Brown and Jerry Brown, and a sister, Daisy Roberts.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.
