NICKERSON - Ray E. Johnson, 71, died Oct. 26, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Aug. 6, 1935, in Burbank, Okla., the son of Roscoe Sherman and Cora Susan Christy Johnson. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in geology. A resident of Nickerson for 15 years, moving from Great Bend, he was plant manger for Rice Engineering, Great Bend.
He belonged to Salem Community Church, Nickerson, a life member of Veteran of Foreign Wars, Great Bend, and a member of Grove Park Golf Club, Ellinwood. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
On March 13, 1983, he married Brenda Nelson in Nickerson. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Tom Ray and wife, Kathy, Sulfur Springs, Texas; three daughters, Kim Burns, Fayetteville, Ark., Shawn Maddox and husband, Steve, Norman, Okla., and Jenny Hughes and husband, Sean, Hutchinson; a brother, Rusty, Sand Springs, Okla.; two sisters, Ollie Bayard, Fairfax, Okla., and Dorothy Rehorn, Sand Springs, Okla.; and nine grandchildren, Hayes, Mitch and Trace Maddox, Justin, Rhandi and Sadie Johnson, Coleson Burns and Dakota and Wyatt Hughes.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Clairene Brotherton.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Salem Community Church, Nickerson, with Pastor George D. Hinton presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Salem Community Church Cemetery, Nickerson.
