Obituary

Raymond C. Lipe, 80, died May 9, 2006, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was born May 20, 1925 in Hutchinson, the son of Orville L. and Martha Achilles Lipe. He graduated in 1943 from Hutchinson High School. He was a retired Optical Dispenser for Dr.'s Loy, Polson & Schuetz, Great Bend, for over 30 years and had formerly worked for Singleton-Joyce.

He belonged to Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church, Great Bend, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, Hutchinson, American Legion Argonne Post No. 180, Great Bend, charter member of the Kansas Optical Dispensers Association. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and was a veteran of World War II.

On Feb. 7, 1947, he married Marian H. Pauls in Inman. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons, Michael and wife Suzanne, Fort Collins, Colo., Gary and Richard and wife Lisa, all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Carol and husband Wally Wessel, Elizabeth, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Douglas Lipe, Fort Collins, Colo. and Jordyn Marie Lipe, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter; Sharolyn and husband Duane Meyeres; a brother, Loren and a sister, Velda Lee.

Celebration service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Westside Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Adrian presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation has taken place. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Naval Reserve.
