Raymond "Ray" Miller, 72, of Hutchinson, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 25, 2012, at Hospice House.
Ray was born Nov. 10, 1940, at Nowata, Okla., the son of William and Clara Yoder Miller.
He attended grade school near Hutchinson and was retired as a machinist from Cessna Fluid Power/Eaton Corp. with 42 years of service. He also farmed and was the owner/operator of Miller Custom Wicking. He loved to go hunting, fishing, golfing and camping. He also did some woodworking, making Yo-Yos, tops, and marble rollers, which he sold at Carriage Crossing Gift Shop. He was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church, a Gideon, and served as a board member of Mennonite Friendship Community. He was involved in prison ministries, the M2 Program, and taught Sunday school at the Central Unit on Sundays and was involved with the "We Care" crusade to Alabama.
Ray married Clara Mae Miller on Oct. 11, 1959, in Hutchinson. She survives, along with their children: Debra J. Pardini and husband Steve of Harrisonburg, Va., Marcia D. Beachy and husband Steven of Hutchinson, Doreen S. Miller and husband David of Myakka City, Fla., Sheila R. Miller and husband Lyndon of London, Ohio, and Brian L. Miller and wife Donna of Dubuque, Iowa. He is also survived by two brothers, Glenn Miller and Ivan Miller, both of Hutchinson; and a sister, Orpha Yoder of Yoder; grandchildren, Angelina, Eric and Kevin Pardini, Sarah (Andrew) Egli, Tyler, Jonathan and Jedidiah Beachy, Katlyn, Rosanna and Lance Miller, Jessica, Ashley (Rick) Harrel, Sean, Zachery, Alyssa and Jerod Miller; and great-grandchildren, Ellie Irene Egli, Hunter and Isaac Harrel. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Kevin Jay Miller.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Plainview Mennonite Church, 5610 W. Trailwest Road, Hutchinson, Kan. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
