Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" Jane Lyman, 67, died peacefully after a long and valiant battle with kidney disease, Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 18, 1948, in Hutchinson, to Floyd and Ernestine (Mettlen) Lyman.

Becky graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1966 and attended Hutchinson Community College and Adela Hale Business College. She had worked at Wesley Towers as a nurse aide in the Thorne Care Center. Becky loved the Hutchinson Blue Dragons and the Kansas University Jayhawks. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed volunteering at church; church was very important to Becky. She had dedicated her life to working with and helping children.

Survivors include: her father, Floyd Lyman, Hutchinson; brothers, Douglas (Pam), Springfield, Missouri, Richard (Charlene), Lawrence, Kelly, Hutchinson; sisters, Ginger Hayes (Kent), and Terry Lyman, both of Lawrence; nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews; Scott Lundemo (Kim), Zachary and Addisyn, Anchorage, Alaska, Robert and Krysten Lyman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kristel Knopinski (Jason), Anslei and Simon, Castle Rock, Colorado, Brooke Glenn (Mike) and Jaxon, Springfield, Missouri, Nicholas Hayes (Brandy) and Abigail of Lawrence; stepsisters, Ann Francisco (Mike), Tucson, Arizona, Jeannie Wheeler (Sam), Sonora, California, and Patty Miller, Fairway.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Ernestine Dale (Mettlen) Lyman; step-mother, Moretha (Miller) Lyman; nephew, Michael Charles Lyman, and step-sister, Marilynn (Miller) Unruh.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. First Ave., Hutchinson, with Rev. Phil Fischer officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. today and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Reno County Big Brothers and Big Sisters, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
