Rebecca Sue Shannon, 19, died Oct. 10, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 6, 1992, in Hutchinson, the daughter of James Leland Shannon II and Heidi Elizabeth Shannon.
Rebecca graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2011 and was currently a sophomore at Hutchinson Community College. She was a member of the Dragonlan Game Club at HCC, the Blackheart Fencing Club and was very active in the anime and cosplay communities. She is survived by: her parents, Heidi Botkin and husband Robert, Jim Shannon and wife Karen; sister, Rachel Shannon; stepsisters, Jessica Botkin and Sheridan Botkin; girlfriend, Jennifer Casper; grandmothers, Carol Shannon, Ann Rudd, Mary Rhoda and Lillian Townsend; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved Papa, Jim Shannon.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Mike Fraley presiding. In honor of Rebecca the family has asked that everyone wear purple shirts and crazy socks. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
