Rene Faye Gough Short, 51, a loving daughter, sister and dear friend passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2014, at her home in Hutchinson. She will be forever missed and be remembered for her big smile, strength and determination. What a wonderful inspiration she will continue to be for all of her friends and family.

She was born March 16, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Melvin and Geraldine (Gerry) Breidenstein Gough.

She attended Buhler High School, a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and a store manager for Duckwall's. She married William Short, they separated and have remained good friends.

Survivors include: her parents, Melvin and Geraldine (Gerry) Gough of Hutchinson; brothers, Rodney Gough and wife Patty of Wichita, Randy Gough of Winfield, Kan.; nieces and nephews, Billy, Rachel, Ashley and Corey; great-nieces and nephews, Jaedyn, Wesley, Dakota, Lillian, Tyson, Piper, Jackson, and Zayleigh; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Opal Gough and Robert and Hazel Breidenstein.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Warren Hett presiding. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with family to receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
