LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Reuben W. Daniel, 89, died June 17, 2009 at Lafayette, Ind. He was born Aug. 15, 1919 in Syracuse, Kansas the son of Wayne and Lillie Coghill Daniel.
Reuben graduated from Stafford High School, Stafford, Kansas and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Army from 1943 to 1946. A longtime Hutchinson and Haven resident, moving to Lafayette in 2005, he retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipeline after 35 years of service.
He was a member of United Church of Christ in Haven.
On Aug. 15, 1942, he married Myra M. Thompson in Wichita. She died Jan. 21, 2009.
Survivors include: son, James R. Daniel and wife Brenda of Lafayette, Ind.; daughter, Linda Shaver and husband Steve of Wichita; six grandchildren, Janice, Benjamin and Amanda Daniel, Anna Hines and husband Seth, Gabriel and Amy Shaver; three great-grandchildren, Michaella Godfrey, Tyler Bates and Madisyn Daniel.
He was preceded in death by, three brothers, Chester, William and Samuel Daniel and two sisters, Lois George and Zola Lanning.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Military rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with family to receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson.
