Rex L. Amos, 89, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born April 30, 1927, in Goodland, to Robert E. and Mary Belle (Murray) Amos.
Rex graduated from Goodland High School in 1945, and joined the United States Maritime Service as a Merchant Marine. Upon completion of his service, Rex worked as a Store Manager for Massey Ferguson in Hutchinson, Grand Island, Neb., Mason City, Iowa, and Longmont, Colo., for 40 years. Rex was of the Lutheran faith.
On Dec. 10, 1946, Rex married Evelyn F. Jones in Goodland. She died Nov. 21, 1995. On Sept. 19, 1997, he married Jean M. Curley in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Robert C. Amos (Sherry) of Orlando, Fla., Steven W. Amos of Maysville, NC, Charles L. Amos (Claudia) of Johnstown, Colo.; stepdaughter, Camile Herman (Mike) of Mason City, Iowa; sister, Nancy M. Cloyd of Goodland; sisters-in-law, Virgiline Amos of Goodland, Bernadine Amos of Clayton, Colo., Frances Jones of Topeka; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by: his brothers, Lyman R., Marion E., Duane W., Glenn "Sam" E. Amos; and sister, Evelyn E. Amos.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Goodland Cemetery, Goodland. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
