Richard D. Branscom, 69 died July 7, 2006 at Hospice House.
He was born Aug. 16, 1936, in Turon the son of Roby J. and Alta Marie Patterson Branscom. He graduated from Turon High School in 1954. He worked for Kansas Power and Light for 32 years, retiring in 1992 as a foreman.
He belonged to South Hutchinson Christian Church, serving as deacon, and was the former mayor of Nickerson. He was a volunteer for Fire District No. 4 and the Arlington EMS, worked the pass gate for Hutchinson Community College and for the Kansas State Fair in various capacities.
He was married to Mildred Sue Munger from 1954 to 1983.
Survivors include: his children, Kent and wife Nancy, Arlington, Rick and wife Danell, Hutchinson, Patti Boucher and husband Tony, Oskaloosa, Master Sergeant Tim and wife Angie, Germany and Ron, Kansas City, MO; two brothers Bud, Turon and Dean, Hutchinson; three sisters, Dorothy Helm and Karen Cooley, both of Hutchinson, and Margaret Dykes, Great Bend;12 grandchildren; eight greaat grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Branscom; a brother, Tommy Branscom; and two sisters, Fern Fluke and Lois Cline.
Funeral willbe at 10 a.m. Tuesday at South Hutchinson Christian Church, with Pastor Brian Barrie and Ron Dykes presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Turon Cemetery.
Memorial may be sent to Hospice of Reno County, Hutchinson Area Cancer Support Services or to South Hutchinson Christian Church, all in care of the funeral home.
