Richard D. "Dick" Geis, 81, died April 5, 2013, at Hospice House. He was born August 23, 1931, in Durham, to Frederick and Esther O. (Herbel) Geis. Dick graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950.

He was retired from the United States Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1968. He later retired as a machine operator from Farmland Industries.

On June 23, 1955, he married Patricia Joan Brace in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Rocky Geis and wife LaQuita, McPherson; daughter, Debbie Gilmore, Hutchinson; grandson, Rick Geis, Kansas City, KS; granddaughter, Jennifer Loy and husband Stephen, Topeka; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Loy, Topeka.

Dick was preceded in death by two brothers, Marsene and Roland Geis, and two sisters, Orlean Neufeld and Addie Meyer.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Cause for Paws, or Hospice House, in care of the mortuary.
