Richard W. "Dick" Schrock, 85, of South Hutchinson, died July 16, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Dick was born April 13, 1927, in Reno County, Kan., the son of William E. and Bertha Stucky Schrock.
He graduated from Plevna High School in 1945. Dick was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army, having served with the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper. Dick retired in 1994 as Co-Owner of Eales Plumbing and Refrigeration in Hutchinson. He was a member of the 10th Ave. United Methodist Church, and was a life-member of both the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361. Dick was a member of the AFL-CIO local in Wichita, the South Hutchinson Planning Board, the Antique Car Club, and also volunteered at the Salvation Army.
Dick married Marilyn E. Eales on July 15, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Greg Schrock of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Debbie Schrock of Andover, Sheryl Schrock and Lisa Schrock, both of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Bill Schrock and wife Darlene of Plevna, and Gene Schrock and wife Mary Ellen of Hutchinson; and two sisters, Kathryn Koons of Tucson, Ariz., and Elnor Gear and husband Roy of Boulder City, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mildred Schrock.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary, with Reverend Richard Brooks presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley, Kan. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, all at Elliott Mortuary.
