Richard 'Dick' Ehling, 90, died Saturday, November 18, 2017, at his home. He was born September 15, 1927, the son of Amos William 'A W' and Flora Mae (Dunn) Ehling.
He was a 1945 graduate of Abbyville High School and had attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a member of Abbyville United Methodist Church, Abbyville Community Church, and First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. Dick was a farmer and stockman and was a fabricator for Deluxe Specialties.
In retirement, his volunteer work included: Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, Avenue A Elementary School, reading the Hutchinson News on KHCC radio, and the Reno County Museum.
On May 29, 1952, he married R. Joan Kueck in Stafford. She survives.
He is also survived by: their daughters, Melynn Cannon and husband Steve of Hutchinson, and Sandra Hill of Rudy, AR ; brother, Rex and wife Marta of Berkley, CA; grandchildren, Leisha Hughey and husband Kyle of North Platte, NE, Steven Cannon and fiancé Kyly of Abbyville, Caleb Hill and James Hill of Rudy, AR, Nikki Pauley and husband Amos of South Hutchinson, Natelie Burkey and husband Jed of Omaha, NE; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Philip and Kenneth; and sister, Frances Boswell.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, with Keith A. Dellenbach presiding. Cremation will follow. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center Education, First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
