Richard D. Glaze, 78, died April 15, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Hutchinson, the son of Clarence Herman and Mamie Lavina Rea Glaze.

He was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson.

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949 and attended Hutch-inson Community College.

He retired as captain of the Hutchinson Fire Department in 1975, and retired as head custodian from U.S.D. 308 in 2007. He was a member of the Westbrook Baptist Church, and inducted into the Hutchinson High School Hall of Fame in 2007.

On July 27, 1950, he married Eddie Lee Russell in Cimarron. She died Dec. 28, 1989. On June 12, 1990, he married Joy Lavielle Chesnutt in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Debbie Caffrey and husband Rick, Cheryl Glaze and Debbie L. Gaines, all of Hutchinson, Sandra Arndt, Wichita, and Rex A. Glaze, Kansas; sister, Donna Marie Goebel, N.M.; grandchildren, Amanda Moffett, Sam Caffrey, Brinton Gaines, Jayson Gaines, Juston Gaines, Eamon Arndt and Ian Arndt. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Andy Addis presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary.
