Richard L. "Rick" Harders Sr., 73, died Jan. 28, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Wichita, to Marion and Ellen Delores (Stoskoph) Harders.

Rick graduated from Great Bend High School in 1961 and attended one year of college. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing roses. At one time he had over 150 hybrid roses. He worked as an air conditioning repair and installation man.

After many years of being together, Rick and Opal (Stewart) were married on May 27, 1999, in Hutchinson. He is survived by: wife, Opal of the home; sons, Marvin McClelland of Hutchinson, Tony McClelland and wife Janet of McPherson; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild. Rick was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Deacon Bruce Miller officiating. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
