Richard Scott Hockett, 81, of Hutchinson, died March 6, 2011, at Mennonite Friendship Manor, South Hutchinson.
He was born in Bronson, Kan., the son of Ray and Jessie Hockett.
He was retired from Ray Shepherd Motors in Fort Scott, Kan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Military Police.
He married Grace Miller on June 4, 1951. She survives.
Other survivors include: his three children, Victor, Sandra and Joy; two grandchildren, Nickolas and William; two sisters; and a brother. One of nine children, he was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Fort Scott National Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
