Richard R. "Rick" Juarez, 80, died Dec. 1, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Aug. 13, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Paulino and Paulina Rodriguez Juarez. He retired in 1992, from the Reno County Courthouse as the maintenance department head.
He belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Lucille M. Martinez in Hutchinson. She died July 24, 1988. On Jan. 22, 1993, he married Maria Elena Garcia. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Julian and wife Laura, Kansas City, and Robert, Hutchinson; a daughter, Angela Cain and husband Marc, Wichita; stepchildren, Carmello Martinez and wife Hortencia, Hutchinson, Margaret Espinoza and husband Beto, Turon, Otilia Martinez, Hutchinson, and Martin Garcia, Hutchinson; brother, Joe, Hutchinson, and Vincent, Colorado; sisters, Helen Calvillo, Arizona, and Vera Hernandez, Hutchinson; 60 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Parish rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday Dec. 4, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 5, 2009, at the church, with Father Brian Nelson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
