HAVEN - Richard H. Moore, 95, died Sept. 26, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Haven, the son of John H. and Glenna Snay Moore. He graduated from Haven High School. A longtime resident of Haven, he was a retired farmer.
He belonged to Haven United Methodist Church, Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge, Midian Shrine of Wichita, was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed cutting wood, shooting and polka dancing.
On May 5, 1935, he married Annie E. Merryfield in Haven. She died July 13, 1992. On Sept. 10, 1995, he married Dee Newell in Fort Scott. She died Feb. 17, 2003.
Survivors include: sons, John R. and Marguerite, Hutchinson, and David H. and Myrna, Iola; a daughter, Ruth Edgington, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mt. Hope, with Masonic graveside rites conducted by the Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 29, 2009, at Haven United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Susan Wickiser presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
