Richard N. 'Dick' Kallaus, 78, of South Hutchinson, died Monday, February 5, 2018, at his home. He was born December 12, 1939, in Parsons, the son of Raymond E. and Theresa L. (Collett) Kallaus. Dick graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958 and served in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1968. He worked as a tool and die maker at Eaton for 38 years until his retirement.
On April 11, 1997, Dick married Elaine McQuade in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, Michael Kallaus (Angie) of Hutchinson; daughter, Cynthia Schmidt (Kenny) of Hutchinson; stepdaughter Jennifer Blevins (Arlan Newell) of Newton; grandchildren, Ryan Penner (Chelsea), Ashley Graf (Bryce Johnson), Michael Graf, Christopher Kallaus, Mollie Martinez (Travis); five great-grandchildren; brother, Don Kallaus (Pat) of Colorado Springs, CO; and sister, Colleen Kallaus of Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with Chaplain Jeffery Jones officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. The family requests attenders wear 'Blue Collar Casual.' Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reno County Veterans' Memorial or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
