Richard Arthur Nicklaus, 78, died March 25, 2016, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Haven, to Arthur and Ruby Nadine (Marks) Nicklaus.

He graduated from Haven High School. Richard proudly served in the United States Army, was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, and machinist for Eaton Corp in the Engineering Dept.

On June 7, 1959, Richard married Deloris Irene "Dee" Wood in Hutchinson. She died Jan. 19, 2014.

Survivors include: daughters, Debbie Goertz and husband Joe of Hutchinson, Cindy Nolte and husband Mike of Buhler; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a grandson; two great-granddaughters; and a son-in-law.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military honors provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastwood Church of Christ Youth Program, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
