P. Mcreynolds, Sr.
October 7, 1938 – August 21, 2019
Richard P. 'Mac' McReynolds, Sr., 80, formerly of Castleton, died August 21, 2019, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie. He was born October 7, 1938, in Osborne County to Floyd L. and Loma Bertha (Wimmer) McReynolds.
Richard served in the United States Army as a heavy equipment mechanic for four years. He was employed at Sonoco (formerly American Packaging Company and Republic Paperboard) for over 40 years. Richard enjoyed camping, watching court television shows and tinkering on cars. He enjoyed many things in his lifetime and could make just about anything, but his greatest joy was being with and watching the activities of his grandchildren and the companionship of his furry little friend, Roxie.
On June 6, 1957, he married Edith Marie Skellenger at Camp Bussac in France. They shared over 62 years of marriage.
He is survived by: wife, Edith McReynolds, Castleton; daughter, Corrine Isaacks, Hutchinson; sons, Richard (Rebecca) McReynolds, Jr., Lerado, André (Laura) McReynolds, Hutchinson, George (Debbie) McReynolds, Turon, Jeffery (Stephanie) McReynolds, Pretty Prairie, Patrick (Belinda) McReynolds, Hutchinson; daughter, Wilma McReynolds, Castleton; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Millie Hoskinson, Ruth (Sam) Cox, Cleta (Jim) Cox; and brother, Ed McReynolds.
Richard was preceded in death by: his parents; granddaughter, Gwen McReynolds; sister, Margaret French; and brother, Charles McReynolds.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Darrel Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1 until 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5 until 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County, Spina Bifida Association, or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
