Obituary

TOPEKA - Richard Lee Plush Sr., 87, Topeka, formerly of Hutchinson and Garden Plain, died Jan. 4, 2011, at Aldersgate Village, Topeka.

He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Hutchinson, the son of Clem and Hazel Williams Plush.

He was a 1942 graduate of Hutchinson High School and later graduated from Salt City Business College. A longtime Hutchinson resident and later a Garden Plain resident, he was owner/operator of a bulk dairy route service, hauling bulk milk.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He married Patricia Adele Myers. They were later divorced. He later married Alta Ast in Aug. 1975 in Wichita. She died Jan. 31, 1998.

Survivors include: son, Rick Jr., Topeka; daughters, Shirley Webb, Wichita, and Beth Day and husband Bill, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Law Hemphill in 2010 and Thelma Haney in 2006.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Grace Hospice of Topeka, in care of the mortuary.
