Richard Alan Krol, 67, of Hutchinson, formerly of Nickerson, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018, in Hutchinson. Rich was born May 25, 1951, to Walter and Lillian (Augustyn) Krol in East Chicago, IN.
Rich graduated from Bishop Noll Institute, Hammond, IN, and came to Kansas to play football at Butler CC in 1970. He graduated from Panhandle State University in 1976, and later received a MS degree in Education from Friends University.
On June 24, 1973, he married Diana Hershberger in Sedgwick, KS.
Rich began his teaching career in 1976, at Nickerson High School in Nickerson, KS. He taught metal shop and psychology at NHS until he retired in 2014. In addition to his classroom teaching, Rich coached football, girls' basketball, boys' basketball and baseball. He loved his work.
Rich also loved his family, and is survived by: sister, Janice Gajdos, Whiteing, IN; wife, Diana; children, Adam and Marcee Krol, Emily and Kevin Hauschild, Mace and Mandy Krol, all of Hutchinson, Noah and Cori Krol, Mt. Hope; nine grandchildren, Teegan, Kanon, Gatlin and Tinlee Krol, Easton and Kutter Hauschild, and Harper, Cam and Ty Krol.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Madeline Gustine.
Memorial services for Rich will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the Nickerson High School Gym. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
